Constans

Constans is a Canadian-born artist, working in painting as his medium of choice. His work concentrates on cataloging pictures and everyday objects and arranging them into surreal-looking anthropomorphic creatures and portraits. He paints using a technique of overlapping layers of fluid acrylic paint and Matte Medium in various ways to create two- dimensional embossed realism on white canvas backgrounds. Constans’ work focuses on themes of identity, self-destruction, death, morality and spirituality. His work is an exploration of these opposing light and dark forces, and their tenuous balance found within mythical tales, objects, modern culture, nature, and himself.
